ρ = m ÷ V

Calculate density from mass and volume

Divide measured mass by measured volume, then convert the result to the density unit you need.

Formula and worked example

How to calculate density from mass and volume

Density (ρ) = mass (m) ÷ volume (V).

Reverse check: 3 g/cm³ × 200 cm³ = 600 g.

Worked example

For 600 g and 200 cm³: 600 ÷ 200 = 3 g/cm³, exactly 3000 kg/m³.

Keep units paired

A density unit always combines a mass unit with a volume unit. Convert both inputs consistently or let the calculator apply the exact conversions.

Known values and units

Enter mass and volume. Both must describe the same measured amount.

DensityCalc calculates ideal mass-density relationships from values you supply. It does not identify materials, certify measurements, or provide a reference-material database.
