m = ρ × V

Calculate mass from density and volume

Multiply a supplied mass density by volume and choose the output mass unit.

Formula and worked example

How to calculate mass from density and volume

Mass (m) = density (ρ) × volume (V).

Reverse check: 1.6 kg ÷ 2 L = 0.8 kg/L.

Worked example

0.8 kg/L × 2 L = 1.6 kg. The litre units cancel, leaving kilograms.

Match the volume units

The volume unit inside the density must match the volume input before multiplication. The calculator performs that conversion exactly.
